About Me:
I taught my first class at the age of 12 to my two younger sisters, when I was trying to motivate them to finish our house chores. When I was 14, I took my first substitute teacher position as I filled in for our church's Sunday School teacher for 3rd and 4th graders. I stayed there for the next two years. Teaching children was exhausting but so much fun. I continued to work with teens and children throughout my college career as I pursued Cross Cultural Studies, Bible Classes, and Teaching English as a Foreign language. I spent time in different fields, enjoying my work in food service and catering, teaching Somali adults and children in Minneapolis, working as a Chiropractic Technician in Park Falls, and volunteering on the ambulance service as an EMT in Glidden. But after my kids were all school age, finding a place to serve in the same school my children attended was a blessing. I learned of a need in our community for Special Education Teachers. I went back to school to become a license Special Education Teacher who can serve students ages 0-21.
I enjoy seeing students build their confidence and self-esteem as they work hard to accomplish their goals. Every day, we work together to find reasons to celebrate and be grateful for our abilities. It is my goal to show every person I encounter that they are valuable, loved, and that the world needs them- because it's true. I hope you know that as well.
